John F. Greenough, 66, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away September 2, 2019. John was born November 21, 1952 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to John “Jack” and Kathleen Greenough and was the oldest of three children. As a boy, he lived in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Owensboro, Kentucky, and Seymour, Indiana until the family settled in Indianapolis. John was a graduate of Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School and earned his BA in Journalism from Purdue University. He often reminisced of the days he worked as a sports journalist for the Martinsville Paper. He retired from Wiley Publishing in 2012 where he served as a proofreader. John was an avid runner and cyclist but his true passions were sailing, playing basketball with his sons, and walking his golden doodle, Brizo.
John was preceded in death by his father, John “Jack” Greenough. John will be forever remembered by his wife, Victoria Greenough; children, Patrick (Rebekah) Greenough and Bradley Greenough; step-daughter, Amber Girard; mother, Kathleen Greenough; sister, Mary (Dan) Smith; brother, Fr. Patrick Greenough; and granddaughter ,Grace. John will also be remembered by his niece, nephew, extended family and dear friends.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Friday, September 6th from 4 - 7 PM at A.R.N. Funeral & Cremation Services, 11411 North Michigan Road, Zionsville, IN 46077.
