Helene "Betty" Schmitt Doe,
98, of Indianapolis, passed away August 13, 2020. A lifelong resident, she was born to James and Adeline Schmitt on March 18, 1922. Betty was a graduate of Arsenal Tech High School, received her BA from Indiana University and an MA from Butler University. She spent her career helping underprivileged children with United Way of Indiana, retiring after 50 years.
Betty was an active member of Zionsville Presbyterian Church. She also spent many hours volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and as a docent for Newfields.
She spent most Wednesday nights playing bridge with her friends and enjoyed daily walks at West Park where she could indulge her hobby of bird watching.
Betty will always be remembered for her generous spirit, unstoppable smile and the way she could make every day memorable.
Her greatest joy was her family. Betty is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, John Doe; their two children, Harold (Susan) Doe and Sarah (David) Smith; grandchildren, Jake (Paula) Doe, Stephanie (Paul) Key, and Luke Smith; and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her five siblings; and her grandson, Hank Smith.
Funeral services will be held at A.R.N. Funeral & Cremation Services, 11411 N. Michigan Rd., on Saturday, August 15th at 11 AM. Friends are welcome to visit from 10 AM until the time of the service.

Jonathon Mitchell Doe
Community leader, father and grandfather passed away August 20, 2022 in Indianapolis at the age of 99.
John was born to Jane and John Doe, Sr on April 7, 1919 in Jacksonville, FL. The family moved to Indianapolis when John was quite young, and he became an avid Hoosier basketball fan.
John attended School 84 and was a graduate of Shortridge High School. He later graduated from Indiana University where, he often boasted, he never missed a basketball game.
John spent his career building bridges and interstates across the country. His work was a true passion. John received many awards over his successful 40 year career - the most notable being an honorary doctorate from his Alma mater, Indiana University.
His greatest love was for his family. John is survived by his children, John III, Sally (Elbert) Gett, and Rick (Jeanne); and 5 grandchildren, JJ, JoJo, Michael, Jack and Eli. He was preceded in death by his wife, Francine.
Funeral services will be private.
